Apprenticeship Overview

The Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are in, or aiming for, management roles at the first line, including team leaders, supervisors, and junior managers. This apprenticeship provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to lead and manage a team, drive performance, and support operational delivery in the workplace. The programme is delivered using a blended learning approach, including face-to-face tutorials, remote workshops, and e-learning.

Funding Options

  • Levy employers: £5,000
  • Non-levy employers: £250

Who Is This Apprenticeship For?

This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who are currently in or aspiring to first-line management roles. Whether you are already supervising a team or aiming for a leadership position, this programme helps develop your ability to manage and motivate teams, handle operational issues, and ensure the success of your organisation.

Learners Will

  • Be supported by a qualified tutor for one-to-one mentoring sessions every 4-6 weeks
  • Engage in a blended learning approach combining face-to-face workshops, remote tutorials, and online learning
  • Complete at least 6 hours of study per week
  • Gain hands-on experience in leadership, performance management, and operational planning

  • Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeship Standard Certificate
  • Level 3 Award in First Line Management and Leadership (optional)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and/or Maths (if required)
  • Foundation Chartered Manager Status (FCMS)
  • Opportunity for continued membership of CMI (Chartered Management Institute)

The Apprenticeship Journey

This apprenticeship combines online learning, face-to-face workshops, and on-the-job training, allowing learners to apply their learning in the workplace. Learners will complete a range of formal assessments and generate evidence of their skills, knowledge, and behaviours through an e-portfolio. A dedicated tutor will provide regular mentoring to ensure learners develop the necessary leadership and management skills required for their role.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

The final assessment includes:

  1. Portfolio of Evidence: The learner will generate evidence of their work throughout the apprenticeship, which will be reviewed by an independent assessor.
  2. Presentation with Questions and Answers: A 20-minute presentation followed by questions, where the learner will demonstrate their knowledge and leadership skills through a specific project or initiative.
  3. Professional Discussion: A structured discussion with an independent assessor to assess the learner’s understanding of leadership, team management, and project management.
