Apprenticeship Overview

The Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship is designed for individuals with prior experience working in Early Years settings, who already have a Level 2 qualification. This apprenticeship helps to deepen their knowledge and understanding, enabling them to become a fully qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator. It includes a blended learning approach, combining face-to-face tutorials, remote workshops, online learning modules, and practical work-based training to develop advanced skills in child development, safeguarding, and educational leadership.

  • Levy employers: £7,000
  • Non-levy employers: £350

Who Is This Apprenticeship For?

This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who are already working in the Early Years sector, hold a Level 2 qualification, and wish to advance their skills and understanding to become a fully qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator. It is perfect for those aiming to take on a more responsible role within their setting, working with children aged 0-5, and supporting their development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Learners Will

  • Receive support through regular one-to-one visits from a dedicated tutor
  • Engage in a blended learning approach, combining face-to-face workshops, remote tutorials, and online modules
  • Complete at least 6 hours of study per week, including e-learning and off-the-job training
  • Develop practical skills in real-world childcare settings
  • Be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, professional discussion, and observation

What You Will Achieve

Received upon completion of the apprenticeship:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator Standard
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)
  • Full Paediatric First Aid (PFA) or Emergency PFA certificate

The Apprenticeship Journey

The apprenticeship is delivered through a blend of face-to-face tutorials, online workshops, and practical, work-based learning. Learners will receive regular support from a dedicated tutor, who will guide them through the learning modules, ensuring they develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to be a successful Early Years Educator. Apprentices must allocate a minimum of 6 hours per week for study and e-learning, with time to complete assignments and assessments. The programme is designed to give learners both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in real-world childcare settings, preparing them for the responsibilities of a Level 3 Early Years Educator.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

The EPA for this apprenticeship includes two methods:

  1. Portfolio of Evidence: Compiled throughout the apprenticeship and reviewed by an independent assessor, followed by a professional discussion.
  2. Observation and Q&A: A 50-minute workplace observation followed by a 30-minute Q&A to assess the learner’s practical skills and knowledge.
