The Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship is designed for individuals new to the Early Years sector or those with limited prior training. This apprenticeship provides the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to work with children in early years settings, ensuring a focus on promoting development and well-being in line with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Levy employers: £5,000

Who Is This Apprenticeship For?

This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals starting their career in early years education, or those with limited formal training who want to gain the qualifications and skills needed to work effectively in a childcare setting. It is perfect for individuals looking to formalise their experience and build a strong foundation in the Early Years sector.

Learners Will

  • Be supported by a dedicated tutor and receive one-to-one mentoring every 4-6 weeks
  • Experience a blended learning approach combining remote learning and face-to-face tutorials
  • Complete 6 hours of study per week, including e-learning modules and off-the-job training
  • Gain practical experience in a childcare setting, applying the skills and knowledge learned

The Apprenticeship Journey

The apprenticeship combines face-to-face tutorials with remote workshops, online learning, and on-the-job experience. You’ll receive personalised support from a dedicated tutor, with one-to-one visits every 4-6 weeks and formal progress reviews. Learners are expected to complete a minimum of 6 hours of study per week. The programme is designed to help learners apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world childcare settings, ensuring they build competence in all key areas of early years practice.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

Your final assessment includes:

  1. Portfolio of Evidence: Compiled throughout the apprenticeship and reviewed by an independent assessor. This is followed by a professional discussion to demonstrate competence.
  2. Multiple Choice Questionnaire (MCQ): A 60-minute test with 40 questions that assesses the knowledge gained. Results are classified as distinction, pass, or fail.
