Apprenticeship Overview

The Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship is designed for individuals with existing experience in early years settings and a Level 2 qualification. This programme develops the advanced knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to work with babies, toddlers and young children, supporting their learning and development across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). 

Funding Options:

  • Levy employers: £7,000 
  • Non-levy employers: £350 (co-investment) 

Who Is This Apprenticeship For? 

This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals already working in the Early Years sector who want to deepen their knowledge and become a fully qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator.

Learners Will: 

  • Be supported by a dedicated tutor
  • Undertake a blended learning approach including remote and face-to-face learning
  • Access structured e-learning, tutorials, and online modules
  • Receive 2-hour one-to-one visits every 4–6 weeks

Learners under 19 or without GCSEs at grade 4/C (or equivalent) will also complete Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

What You Will Achieve

Received upon completion of the apprenticeship:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator Standard 
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English & Maths (if required)
  • Full Paediatric First Aid (PFA) or Emergency PFA certificate

The Apprenticeship Journey

Your learning is structured around three key themes, supported by tutorials, mentoring and dedicated time for off-the-job training (minimum 6 hours per week). In addition to online learning, learners engage in action learning sets, team reviews and access free stepping-up sessions to leadership in early years. 

End Point Assessment (EPA)

Your final assessment includes: 

  • Professional Discussion: A 90-minute session underpinned by a portfolio of evidence 
  • Observation and Q&A: A 50-minute workplace observation followed by a 30-minute Q&A
