A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Nursery Apprentices to work for Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries.

Hungry Caterpillar Day Nurseries operates across 9 sites and have offered quality child care since 1999. We operate in a range of sites working closely with the local Community in Children Centres, local Primary Schools. We strive to do the very best for the local Communities and work hand in hand with the Ealing, Hillingdon and Harrow Local Authorities in delivering quality environments. Our network of sites are in close proximity and this in itself provides excellent career progression, we close the sites 5 times a year to deliver bespoke training and look at developing leaders within our Company.

Duties include:

  • To support children’s learning and development with children age from all ranges of the Early Years
  • Support children’s development skills working to plan activities, recording observation and their progress.
  • Attending staff meetings and any training that is in house
  • To regularly update the children's daily diaries
  • To assist the nursery practitioners in implementing all nursery policies
  • To meet & greet parents/carers and children in a positive and friendly manner
  • To understand and assist in implementing room timetables and routines
  • To be aware of new starters and any allergies etc they may have
  • To ensure that the ratios are adhered to at all times
  • To assist with the wall displays and decoration
  • To assist with the nappy changing routines & personal hygiene
  • To assist with the cleaning rotas and ensure the room(s) are clean and tidy at all times
  • To assist with the laundry 

Future prospects:
A permanent position as a qualified nursery assistant to then undergo the advanced apprenticeship. 

Skills required:
It is vital that candidates have some knowledge of the child care sector through reading and demonstrating a real sense of enthusiasm and commitment to work with children in the early years

Qualifications required: 
A good level of education with GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths to grade C or above.

Qualification Structure:
Successful candidate will be provided with the opportunity to complete a fully certified  Intermediate Apprenticeship in Children and Young Peoples Workforce which will cover the following frame work:

Level 2 QCF in Children and Young Peoples Workforce
Employers Rights and Responsibilities
Functional Skills in ICT, Math and English
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills

Duration: 12 months
