How long will it take to do an Apprenticeship?

Depending on the level, an apprenticeship can take between 12 months to 2 years:

 

Intermediate Apprenticeship Level 2

12 months +

Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 

12 – 18 months

Higher Apprenticeship Level 4

18 – 24 months

 

Who can do an Apprenticeship?

There are a number of Government eligibility criteria relating to our Apprenticeship programmes. 
In order to attract full government funding, you must meet the below criteria:

 

Living status

Must have a British passport or be an EEA citizen (EU citizen including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Norway)

OR

Any individual with any of the statuses listed below, is eligible to receive funding and are exempt from the three-year residency requirement rule. 

  • Refugee Status
  • Discretionary Leave to Enter
  • Discretionary Leave to Remain
  • Exceptional Leave to Enter
  • Exceptional Leave to Remain
  • Indefinite Leave to Enter
  • Indefinite Leave to Remain
  • Humanitarian protection
  • Leave Outside the Rules

 

Education

Must not hold a degree

Must not currently be in full time education when starting the apprenticeship

 

Hours

You must work between 30 - 40 hours per week

 

Age

Those aged between 16-23 years attract full government funding for Apprenticeship vacancies

Those aged 24years and over may receive full funding if they are already in full time employment and meet all other eligibility criteria

 

Do I need to attend college to do an apprenticeship?

No, these are work based learning programmes so you will gain your qualification ‘on the job’ whilst at your workplace

 

How do I go about employing an Apprentice?

Hawk offer a free and flexible recruitment service to employers.

Our dedicated Apprentice Recruitment Team will: 

Arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements, identify the apprenticeship funding available to you and the most suitable provision to meet your needs
Assign an account manager to your role and agree a job description with basic terms and conditions of employment
Advertise your vacancy through various channels to attract potential candidates or consider our existing candidate pool
Telephone-screen all applicants, inviting successful candidates to our in-house assessment day
Forward candidates to you for interview, using your own selection process
